About High Speed 2

High Speed 2 intends to build 345 miles of new high-speed track which will connect the city centres of London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds.

The intention is to help United Kingdom work together by helping bridge the north-south divide. The new railway is expected to free up space on congested rail lines. This will relieve overcrowding and improve reliability for millions of people using Britain’s railways.

One of the main benefits the project will generate is to help deliver a more productive economy and enable the country to compete on the global stage by:

• Making it faster and easier to travel for work and leisure
• Helping increase trade, boost tourism and regenerate towns and cities
• Creating several employment opportunities during the planning, construction and operation stages.

KAPMS Services Limited Activities:

KAPM Services Limited was contracted by Arup who are the PSC consultant for Lot 3 of the Phase 2B works to support with their Control Point 3 Capital Cost Estimate. KAPM supported with the following:

• Help identify opportunities to reduce cost
• Support estimates reviews to ensure there is no padding up of risk items
• Review and advise on risk items and their magnitude
• Advise on estimating uncertainties
• Advice on benchmarking
• Help develop output reports for the HS2 client
• Help establish a robust assurance process for the estimating process and ensure it is followed
• Support the documentation of the assurance process
• Help conduct independent challenge for the estimation process

Run a lesson learnt workshop after the estimating process and record the output in a report.
